Why do show jods need to be so long?

In the ring, you want the bell bottom of the jods to completely cover your boots except for the toe. The back of the pant should hang down below the heel of your boots even though your heels are down in the stirrups. The jods should be ordered based on waist and inseam measurements. Waist is at the smallest part (usually just above your navel) and inseam is crotch to floor barefoot. If the jods are for the show ring, you would want the length to be inseam (crotch to floor barefoot) plus 4 inches. When you get dressed, pull the bottom of the pants up around your calves until you mount the horse.

Do you have a printed catalog?

We are the only exclusively saddleseat tack and apparel shop in the world. We do not have a printed catalog that we can mail as our entire catalog is on line instead. The site is very fast and has been designed so that you can print any page with the photo. If you do this as you're browsing, you'll quickly have your own "catalog" of the things you found interesting. We add new items every day and an annual printed catalog just would not provide the flexibility we need. Also by avoiding the cost of printing & postage we can keep our costs, and therefore prices down. You can order on-line if you want to but you are still free to order the old fashioned way - by calling our toll-free number (800 285-0645). Our staff are all experienced saddleseat exhibitors, breeders, trainers & instructors who will help you select exactly what you need. What is your return policy?

You may return anything for any reason within 30 days as long as it is still brand new. This includes sale and clearance items. Your credit card will be credited on the day the return arrives back here unless you have requested an exchange instead. All returns require a return authorization # - just call us for this. Boots and hats must be shipped in their original boot or hat box within another box. Shirts must be properly refolded and all cardboard, plastic supports and straight pins put back in place. The shirt should then be placed back in it's plastic bag. Shirts must appear brand new or the return will be refused.

Can you explain how to fit a Lane Fox saddle to both me and my horse?

First, fitting the saddle to the horse. Saddles come in several tree widths. This refers to the degree of angle of the two panels on the underside of the saddle that make contact with the horses back. Most of the horses who are shown saddleseat require a medium/wide tree but occasionally we run across a horse who needs either a medium or a wide tree. Most saddles sold today are a medium/wide tree unless you specify otherwise. If in doubt, we suggest that you do a wither tracing and fax it to us so we can see which tree width would fit the best. To do a tracing, take a piece of wire (an old coat hanger for example) and bend it over the middle of the horse's withers. Then trace the bent wire onto a piece of plain white 8 1/2 X 11 paper, write you name & phone # on it and fax it to us at 864 296-6905. Fitting the saddle to the human. Most adults ride in a 21" seat, most adolescents take a 19" and the 17" are for small children. The choice between a flat (regular) seat and a deep (equitation) seat is strictly a matter of personal preference. A flat seat gives you more freedom of movement whereas a deep seat keeps you seated where you're supposed to be.

Do you ship outside the US?

Yes, we ship outside the USA. We need to see what you are ordering, put it all in a box, weigh and measure it to calculate the shipping. So, go ahead and place your order on-line. The system will not calculate any shipping charge. As soon as the shipping has been manually calculated your on-line order will be updated with the shipping charge and new grand total. We will also advise you by e-mail what the shipping cost is. We use the US Postal service for Canada and most overseas orders rather than UPS because it's less expensive.

Why is the sizing of Reed Hill's ladies apparel so different from all other companies?

The manufacturers of the ladies clothes we can get at the mall or in a department store have been making each of the sizes a little bit bigger every year for the last 20 years or so. This is to accommodate the aging population and allows a middle aged lady to still wear the same size even though she has actually gotten larger. This is called vanity sizing or street sizes. Reed Hill has not done this, they have stuck with traditional sizes and any Reed Hill garment is exactly the same size today as it was 20 years ago. Maintaining the same measurements year after year is essential for people to be able to re-order when they can't try something on as in a retail store. Also many people find out their Reed Hill size by trying on other peoples coats & suits. As a general rule, ladies street sizes clothes now run about 3 sizes larger than those made by Reed Hill.

How quickly can I receive my order?

Orders for in stock items are shipped within 24 hours, orders for items that are not in stock are usually shipped within five business days. Orders for items not in stock that will be available within 60 days will be back ordered and shipped when available. The order confirmation e-mail you will receive right after placing your order includes a link that allows you to check the status of your order at all times. When your order is shipped we will send you an e-mail telling you exactly when UPS predicts delivery. Selecting a rapid shipping method affects only shipping time, not the processing time of your order. If you absolutely must have something by a certain date, please call, e-mail us or use the “Additional Information About This Order” page. In urgent situations some of our suppliers may be able to drop ship directly to you at your request. In these cases there may be a drop ship fee.

Do you ship by UPS Overnight or 2nd Day Air?

Yes, if you select Overnight or 2nd Day Air shipping, the system will not calculate any shipping charge at all. We will do that manually before your credit card is charged. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii and outside the United States will not be processed (and your credit card will not be charged) until we have advised you of the shipping cost by e-mail. The order will be processed only after you have approved the shipping charge.
